therapy for children

Therapy provides children with a safe, supportive space where they can feel understood, develop emotional awareness, and learn healthy ways to cope with challenges. I use a variety of age-appropriate, creative, and evidence-based approaches to help children express themselves and build skills that they can use both in and outside of therapy.

Children do not always have the words to express what they are feeling. Sometimes their emotions show up through changes in behavior, difficulties at school, worries, anger, withdrawal, or challenges in relationships.

A Collaborative Approach

Working with children often means working with the adults who care for them, too. When appropriate, I collaborate with parents and caregivers to better understand a child's needs and provide guidance and support for responding to challenges at home.

My goal is to help children feel safe, understood, and empowered while giving them the tools to navigate their emotions and experiences with greater confidence.

What does therapy with a child look like?

Sessions are tailored to each child's age, personality, needs, and comfort level. Depending on the child, therapy may include conversation, creative activities, games, drawing, stories, mindfulness, or other therapeutic tools. Parents may also be included in portions of treatment to support progress outside of sessions.
